For those event professionals on the go, eating a substantial meal isn’t always a priority. I’m sorry to break it to you, but a liquid diet of coffee and Red Bull just isn’t going to cut it! I know, I know, where is the time to sit and enjoy a meal? If you’re anything like me, I look forward to every meal and especially the paired glass of wine that goes with it. If I can help you enjoy even one meal while on the go, I’ll be satisfied. Check out the tools below that will help keep you and everyone around you moving with some much needed energy!

Seamless/Grubhub
We’ve all beindex-how-3aen there: the hours pass as you’re stuck at your desk and before you know it, the clock reads 10 p.m. and your stomach starts to let you know that it has been neglected. Available for iOS and Android devices, both of these apps allow you to quickly and easily order takeout from your favorite restaurant through your mobile device, or even online from your computer if you so choose. Depending on your location, one app may have a wider variety of restaurants to choose from, but regardless you’ll have access to a large number of eateries.

WineGlass

Whether you’re out with colleagues, clients, or potential clients, you want them to think you know your stuff. The WineGlass app allows you to have a wine connoisseur at your fingertips without anyone knowing. Simply open the app and take a picture of the wine list and the app will show you the ratings, reviews, price information and food pairing for each wine so you can make the right decision for your meal choice and budget. Not only will you look like you know what you’re talking about, but you’ll also be able to learn a thing or two about wine yourself!

Food waste in an unfortunate issue that event organizers and venues face with events, but there is now an app that has been raising awareness and trying to fight this issue. Founder and CEO Komal Ahmad started the first food recovery organization that matches food donations to nearby shelters, food pantries, low income housing organizations, etc. through on-demand drivers. Although this is currently only running in San Francisco, the goal is to continue to grow through out the United States and eventually overseas!

OpenTable
Picture this: you’re in the middle of a meeting that’s going over time or sitting in a late breakout session and you’re in serious need of some food. Instead of prolonging the process of getting to a restaurant and having to wait for a reservation (if said restaurant even has one!), you could instead just pull out your phone or tablet and make your reservation quickly and quietly on OpenTable. Not only is it easy to access, but you can quickly search by party size, date, time, type of cuisine, price or distance so you can pick the perfect spot for you and your party. As a plus for those that are traveling internationally, you can make your reservations in other countries as well!
                                                                 .     .     .

For those event and meeting planners that are constantly on the go, I hope some of the above apps can make food a bit more of an easy and enjoyable process. My inner-foodie appreciates accessibility and considering our smartphones are basically glued to our hands, apps like these couldn’t make our lives any easier if they tried!

Have you tried any of the above apps? What are some of your favorite food apps for when you’re on the road? Share your experiences and feedback in the comments below for other foodies-gone-event professionals!
